Time change lag and executive dysfunction

TGIF. This whole week has been an endless slog through horrible exhaustion. The clocks changing seem to impact me differently than others. I don’t understand it.

I was more tired each day than I was the day before and I’m desperately hoping this weekend will allow me to fully adjust to our new time zone.

It feels like jet lag. No matter how much I sleep, I’m tired and I feel off somehow.

There was a tweet about executive function recently that resonated with me, but I can’t find it now. It was something about being so tired in the evening that the writer lacked the executive function to manage getting up and going to bed.

I don’t think I’ve heard the term executive function much before. If I have, I don’t recall. I now want to learn more.

If it is what I think it is, it explains a lot about my week. I couldn’t figure out what to cook for my meals, because I lacked the executive function required to find new recipes (ones without nightshades). That problem solving part of my brain failed me.

I also found it far harder than usual to withstand food cravings. I did not eat healthy this week.

Some people are able to get by on very little sleep but I, quite literally, cannot function. Simple things like figuring out what to wear, or even how to turn on my shower, wind up being horribly frustrating.

Don’t even get me started on how useless I felt at work all week.

What’s the story on letting go of changing the clocks? Are we getting any closer to that logical step becoming a reality?

Because this week was utter nonsense and I hate it.
